The Oyster Smack Inn
The Oyster Smack Inn is one of Burnham-on-Crouch’s most loved restaurants. Its name refers to a traditional type of fishing trawler – ‘oyster smack’. The River Crouch once played host to these boats, which would carry fresh seafood to the river shores of the local area.
The tavern was built in the 1800s and named the "The Oyster Smack" and is just a short walk from the main street and the river itself. After an extensive, modern day refurbishment, The Oyster Smack Inn with a 90-seater restaurant, modern bar and 10-room accommodation was opened in 2006.
The owners (The Howells) have worked in Michelin star restaurants; catering for celebrities and even members of The Royal Family, bringing their experience and expertise to give the Oyster Smack Inn, the sought-after reputation it deserves.

The Ship Inn
Dating back to the mid-eighteenth century, this pub has come a long way since it first set sail! The Ship Inn stands opposite the Clock Tower on Burnham’s high street. Serving delicious, fresh and sustainable food, with a wide selection of craft drinks, this homely and relaxed setting is popular with Burnham locals.

The Swallowtail Restaurant
Situated within the picturesque Burnham Yacht Harbour and overlooking the marina, The Swallowtail Restaurant is nestled amongst peaceful yachting life and the perfect setting for wintery dinner and drinks. This year, the much-loved restaurant is offering party nights, overlooking the River Crouch.

Ye Olde White Harte
Ye Olde White Harte was first opened in the 1650s and is one of three waterfront pubs in Burnham-on-Crouch. It’s historic frontage, a characterful bar (unchanged for many decades), snug area and old open fireplace make this an idyllic place to enjoy Christmas dinner in Burnham-on-Crouch next to the River.

- A Christmas Celebration on Friday 13th December 2024, Crouch Ridge will be hosting a special evening with a Christmas menu. The event will run 7pm – 11pm and will also include live music with musical trio The Elixir. The evening is priced at £45 per person
- Party Tasting Package This package is also available Friday, Saturday & Sunday 12am – 5pm priced at £55 per person (minimum two people) It includes: a welcome glass of sparkling wine per person, bronze tasting flight of two sparkling wines and three still wines (white, rose & red), one charcuterie or cheese board and souvenir polycarbonate plastic glasses. Duration approximately 2.5 hrs.
