Burnham Waters Wins National Housing Award | Housing with Care Awards 2025
On Friday (6th June 2025) Burnham Waters, the new retirement community for the over 55 in Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex, secured a prestigious national, Housing with Care Award 2025.
At an award ceremony held in London, the retirement village was announced as the winner within the coveted Building Design category.
This Building Design category sought to recognise an organisation that successfully delivers a design, which demonstrates innovation and imagination, while keeping future resident’s wellbeing at its heart.
Burnham Waters was recognised for a design that was responsive to the needs of its future residents and one that demonstrated the best utilisation of technology. The development was also required to show evidence of green technologies.

Retirement bungalows designed with the future in mind
All of the homes at Burnham Waters benefit from open plan layouts, which can easily accommodate wheel chairs or walking aids, along with easily accessible wet rooms. They include built-in alarms systems and a smart lock and video intercom, which offers both additional security and convenience for residents.
Each home benefits from its own private patio/terrace, while the wider grounds are maintained as part of the estate. This allows residents to benefit from the open space, without the burden of maintenance. The entire site offers level access/is step free.
