New Essex retirement community enjoys a day at the races
First community event hosted by Burnham Waters!
Earlier this month, residents at our new Essex retirement community in Burnham-on-Crouch dressed up in their finest for a trip to Chelmsford City Racecourse.
Organsied by the team at Burnham Waters, a group of 16 ventured out for an evening of fun at the Chelmer Fillies Stakes.
The event was the first of what is hoped to form a regular calendar of community events throughout the year for residents at Burnham Waters. The events are designed to bring residents together and offer opportunities to enjoy social occasions and new experiences with neighbours and friends.
Armed with a few racing tips from some keen racegoers within the Burnham Waters team, residents were picked up by coach and driven to the race course, where they watched the horses in the parade ring, and enjoyed a fun-packed evening of racing along with a three-course meal.
As a special treat, residents were tasked with picking the best turned-out horse and presented the winning trainer with their trophy, making it a memorable outing for all involved.
All residents reported that it was a great evening with many already eagerly anticipating the next planned outing!
One resident who attended, Diane Hurrell commented: "The race day was absolutely marvellous and we thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The Chelmer Fillies Stakes at Chelmsford City Racecourse is known for bringing together some of Britain’s best three-year-old fillies and offers a day of exciting racing for all to enjoy.
