Remember remember the 5th November! Bonfire Night is almost upon us! If you’re wondering what’s on in Essex over the firework weekend, the team at Burnham Waters have put together a list of some of the best ongoings in and around town!

Southminster Fireworks Spectacular

First on our what’s on in Essex list is the Southminster fireworks spectacular! This year is set to be the biggest celebration yet and is sponsored by Europlaz. The event will be held at King George V Memorial Playing Field, CM0 7EW, from 5pm-9pm on Saturday 4th November.

The evening will include food vendors, market stalls, bouncy castles. Admission is by wristband only. These cost £1 and must be purchased ahead of the event from the Southminster Parish Office, open Monday to Thursday, 9am to 12 noon. Parking is accessed via the station car park, with no access into the car park after 5.30pm for safety reasons.

The Great Burnham Bonfire

If you’re sticking closer to home and looking for things to do in Burnham on Crouch this firework night, the ‘Great Burnham Bonfire’ is always a crowd favourite! The bonfire event will be held at St. Mary’s Vicarage, CM0 8DA, with gates opening at 6pm. The bonfire lighting will take place at 6.30pm and the firework display from 7pm.

This is a free event; St Mary’s does ask that attendees bring a large firework (no boxes or sparklers) with them as this is a community firework show. There will be food and drink from local outlets, offering hot and cold refreshments, including a beer tent! Glow sticks and other toys will be on offer for children at the venue.

If you’d like to donate wood to the bonfire, you can contact St. Mary’s Burnham here

Maldon Promenade Fireworks

This year, award winning display team, Star Fireworks, present the annual Maldon Fireworks, organised by the Rotary Club of Maldon. This sparkling spectacular will be held at Promenade Park, on Saturday 4th November, with gates opening at 5.30pm. Live music will be from 6pm, the bonfire at 7pm and the firework display at 7.30-8pm! Tickets are £25 for a family ticket, £7 for children and £9 for adults. These can only be bought online to guarantee entry.

The Winter Warmers bar will also be there serving a selection of seasonal drinks including mulled wine, spiced cider and hot toddies. Many local food concessions will be serving delicious hot and cold food throughout the evening, including hot dogs from the award winning ‘Maldon Sausages’. Parking is available in all the High Street car parks and on the Promenade Park.

Colchester Castle Fireworks

If you’re asking what’s on in Essex for those in Britain’s first official city, the spectacular annual fireworks display in Colchester's Castle Park is taking place on Sunday 5th November! Alongside the impressive fireworks display there will be live entertainment, a bonfire, parading of the guy and more!

This will be King Coel’s Kittens 52nd Fireworks Spectacular to be held in Colchester Castle Park. Over the years they have raised valuable funds to purchase tangible items to support groups of people with special requirements living in the local community.

Gates open at 5.30pm, and refreshments will be available inside the park. Live entertainment runs between 5.30pm-7pm culminating in the Guy Parade and lighting of the bonfire at 7pm! This will then be followed by the biggest Fireworks Display in the city of Colchester.

You must purchase tickets in advance for this event. These are available on the King Coel’s Kittens website and are available now.
