With just one month to go until the big day, the countdown to Christmas is officially on! Whether you’re a local or looking for Essex villages to visit this festive season, Burnham on Crouch has plenty to enjoy over the next month.

The most wonderful time of the year
Each year, we spend the latter months looking forward to the Christmas celebrations! It’s safe to say that it’s that togetherness and quality time that makes the day itself so special. Fun activities that allow us to get into the festive spirit in the week’s leading up to the main event really help to instil this! Enjoying all your local area has to offer is a great afternoon out, that doesn’t have to cost the earth.
Burnham town is known for its quaint and cosy atmosphere during winter. Those that live around the area will know just how family orientated the town becomes throughout November and December. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Fun for the whole family
So, what’s on in Essex 2022? Here are just a few of the events held in the local vicinity from this week:
Christmas on the Quay
If you’re after a local Christmas light switch on, look no further! Burnham's On the Quay Christmas Lights Switch On starts at 4pm on Saturday 26th November 2022 and promises to be a great, family friendly event for all ages!
From 5pm-8pm, guests can enjoy a real reindeer experience, where they can meet and feed the reindeer, get their picture taken with them, and even take home a keyring of their photo!
For the little ones, Father Christmas and his Christmas grotto will be there! Children can enjoy a photo opportunity and a special gift from the big man himself! There will also be festive raffles, choirs, late night openings of some local businesses, a giving tree - with all purchased gifts going to Broomfield children’s ward and a Christmas wish tree.
The official light switch on is at 7pm, where guests can enjoy mince pies, mulled wine, and alcohol served from Bistro on the Quay.
Burnham Christmas Fayre
Next on our nice list is the Burnham on Crouch Christmas Fayre! Every year, the Burnham on Crouch Carnival Committee hold the festive street fayre along the high street on the second Saturday of December. This year it’s taking place on Saturday 10th December 2022 between 2pm-6pm.
To allow for ease of access, the high street is closed off to traffic, to allow people to browse stalls and local produce from small businesses! The festive street fayre offers plenty to do for all the family, including fairground-style rides, bouncy castles, a Christmas market, food and drinks stalls, a brass band, school choirs, face-painting and a raffle. You can even catch a glimpse of Santa on his sleigh, giving away sweet treats throughout the day!
In addition, the Carnival Committee presents cheques to local charities and good causes from money raised by the summer carnivals. There is also a collection for local charities and good causes for attendees to donate if they wish! There is plenty of free parking in the town for those who drive, so no need to worry about getting there too much ahead of time.
Christmas party night
If you’re looking for an excuse to get your glad rags on this festive season, Royal Corinthian Yacht Club are on hand to help again! On Saturday 3rd and Wednesday 21st December 2022, their signature Christmas Party Nights are open to all!
These evenings are for adults, so it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a festive work do, or simply spend quality time with friends on the approach to Christmas! Each event begins at 7pm, with every ticket including a delicious three course meal from the club’s head chef. A live DJ and dancing will go on until midnight!
