Understanding your retirement living options

Choosing the right retirement lifestyle is a personal decision, and there are a range of options available depending on your needs.
If you are considering your options for retirement living and are looking for a way to maintain your independence while becoming part of a welcoming, like-minded community, Burnham Waters offers the perfect balance of freedom, comfort, and support.
Our beautiful village has been thoughtfully designed to enable residents to enjoy an active and independent lifestyle, with private homes set within a secure and thriving community.
Alongside the freedom of living in your own home, residents will have access to a range of onsite facilities, including beautifully landscaped gardens, leisure and fitness facilities and a calendar of optional social events, creating opportunities to stay connected and enjoy community life at your own pace.
Supporting independent living is at the heart of everything and this month, we welcomed visitors to our Connected Living: The Future of Independence event in partnership with Porters Care, showcasing how discreet in-home health monitoring and smart fall detection technology can help residents live safely, confidently, and independently for longer.
Connected living technology is just one of the many ways Burnham Waters is helping to shape the future of retirement living – combining independence, wellbeing, and peace of mind.

Protecting our oceans this World Ocean Day

There is something truly special about beginning the next chapter of life by the sea. With the ocean on your doorstep, beautiful coastal surroundings, and a welcoming community nearby, it’s easy to see why seaside retirement living is so highly sought after.
As a luxury retirement village in the coastal town of Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, we understand the importance of the sea and natural environment in the lifestyle our residents enjoy every day.
With ‘World Ocean Day’ recognised earlier this month, we are celebrating our connection to the sea and appreciating the vital role oceans play in sustaining life on Earth. Covering more than 70% of the planet and producing around half of the oxygen we breathe, our oceans are precious ecosystems that deserve care and protection.
From making mindful everyday choices to supporting local conservation, there are many ways we can help preserve marine environments for future generations.
Discover more about the importance of our oceans and the simple steps we can take to protect our blue planet.

Burnham-on-Crouch Art Trail 2026

The Burnham Art Trail has returned this week, running until this Sunday 28th June, celebrating the creativity and talent of local artists across Burnham-on-Crouch and the surrounding area.
Now in its 22nd year, the trail is all about showcasing and supporting local artists and makers, transforming the town into an open-air gallery. It provides a platform for creatives to exhibit and sell their work, share their skills, and connect with the community. From painting and photography to ceramics, sculpture, jewellery and textiles, visitors can explore a diverse range of original work in shops, cafés, studios and public spaces across the town.
A key highlight is the chance to step inside working studios and creative spaces, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic process and the opportunity to meet the artists behind the work.
The Art Trail is a much-loved community event that celebrates local creativity, supports artists, and encourages visitors to explore Burnham-on-Crouch in a fresh and inspiring way.
