Active April at Burnham Waters: Stay active, feel better

This month, we’ve been embracing ‘Active April’ at Burnham Waters—a nationwide initiative encouraging people to move more and prioritise their wellbeing. It’s the perfect time to refresh routines, with simple, regular movement proven to boost both physical and mental health. Staying active in retirement supports independence, improves mobility, lifts mood, and creates valuable social connections.

As part of this, we’re delighted to welcome Nikki from Kinesis Pilates to our community. With over 20 years of experience, she now leads exclusive chair and mat Pilates sessions for our residents.

Her classes provide a friendly, supportive space where residents can connect, encourage one another, and enjoy the benefits of movement with many already noticing improvements in posture, mobility, and energy levels.

With more activities continuing to grow, there’s never been a better time to get involved at Burnham Waters. Whether it’s joining a Pilates class, enjoying a walk in the beautiful surroundings, or simply moving more each day, every step contributes to a healthier, happier retirement.

Read more about Nikki, the benefits of staying active, and a helpful guide to Pilates in our full article.

Spotlight: Two-Bedroom Bungalows at Burnham Waters

Bungalows continue to grow in popularity among those planning for retirement, and it’s easy to see why. Single-storey living offers a safer, more accessible home, with step-free layouts designed to support both your current lifestyle and future needs. Open-plan interiors create a natural sense of space, while easy access to outdoor areas makes it simple to relax, entertain, and enjoy the fresh air.

This month, we’re shining a light on our popular two-bedroom bungalow styles: The Crouch and The Chelmer.
Each offers a refined take on modern bungalow living, with added flexibility to suit a range of lifestyles. Spacious open-plan living areas are complemented by our signature floor-to-ceiling windows, creating bright, uplifting spaces filled with natural light.

These homes are the perfect choice for those looking for a little extra room without compromising on style or practicality. With two bedrooms, there’s space for visiting family and friends, a dedicated hobby room, or a comfortable home office, giving you the freedom to live exactly how you choose.

Explore our two-bedroom bungalows and discover if they could be the perfect fit for your retirement lifestyle.

National Gardening Week: Enjoy the outdoors this spring

This week marks the start of National Gardening Week 2026, the UK’s biggest celebration of gardening, led by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). This year’s theme, curiosity, encourages us to slow down, look a little closer, and appreciate the small wonders that make our gardens so special.
With the arrival of warmer weather, it’s been wonderful to see our wonderful residents, alongside our dedicated gardening team busy bringing the grounds back to life, and it’s looking better than ever.

For those who enjoy gardening, our residents have the opportunity to make the most of your own private outdoor space and National Gardening Week is a great reminder that gardening doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple touches can have a big impact.

A few easy ways to get started:
•    Plant seasonal flowers to add colour and brighten your space
•    Grow herbs for cooking and everyday use
•    Spend time tidying and refreshing your garden for the months ahead
•    Take a moment to observe wildlife and enjoy the calming effects of nature

Gardening is not only rewarding but also beneficial for wellbeing, helping to reduce stress, boost mood, and keep you gently active.
