Wondering what’s on in Essex this bonfire night 2024? Well, look no further, because we have you covered! The team at Burnham Waters, the new luxury lifestyle village for the over 55s in Burnham-on Crouch has put together a list of what events are planned locally on and around 5th November 2024.
With the first of our residents now moved in and enjoying life in their new retirement bungalows (yes, the first homes here are finished and ready for you to move in to!), we know that some people will be looking to get out and enjoy some local fireworks this bonfire night, either with grandchildren and family, or with friends. So, we have pulled together a list of some of our favourite, local firework events, taking place in 2024. Take a look below for what’s on in Essex this Bonfire Night 2024:
The Bell Inn Firework & Bonfire Night Extravaganza
When: 2nd November 2024, 5-9pm
Where: The Bell Inn, Beckingham Street, Maldon, Essex, CM9 8LL

A night of fabulous food, live music, fantastic fireworks and the lighting of the big bonfire! There will be live music from Tony Way4Ward, there will be an outside bar, children’s rides, hog roast, BBQ, pizza, cookies and much more!!
This is a pre-booked ticket only event – tickets are bookable through the website.
Tickets:
- Adult (16 years +): £7.50pp
- Children (5-15 years): £5pp
- Children: (0-4 years: Free
plus booking fee
Itinerary:
- 5pm: gates open
- 6pm: lighting of the bonfire
- 7:30pm: fireworks commence
There will be a wide range of rides, food and beverage stalls available plus live music.
Parking is on a first come basis, a short walk from The Bell Inn, please be advised to arrive from 5pm with time to park.
Pushchairs and wheelchairs are welcome, however it’s worth noting that there is a lot of uneven ground (along with wet ground dependant on the Great British weather!) so be sure to take care.
The Great Burnham Bonfire
When: Saturday 2nd November 2024, from 6pm
Where: St Mary’s Church Green, CM0 8DA

If you’re looking for things to do in Burnham-on-Crouch this firework night, then why not go along to the ‘Great Burnham Bonfire’ at St. Mary’s.
Itinerary:
- 6pm: gates open
- 6:30pm: lighting of the bonfire
- 6:45pm: fireworks display to commence
There will be hot food, a drinks tent, hot and cold drinks and glow sticks and toys available.
Entry is free but you are invited to bring along a single large firework for the display (this is optional).
Ahead of the event, St Mary’s Church Green is now open for wood contributions for the bonfire and they are still looking for volunteers to help build the bonfire on Friday 1st and to help out on the day itself - email if you can help: stmaryschurchburnham@outlook.com
Maldon Promenade Fireworks
When: 2nd November 2024, from 5.30pm
Where: Promenade Park, Park Drive, Maldon, CM9 5JQ

This year, award-winning display team, Star Fireworks will again present the annual Maldon Fireworks, organised by the Rotary Club of Maldon.
Itinerary:
- 5:30pm: gates open
- 6pm: live music will commence
- 7pm: the bonfire will be lit
- 7:30pm: firework display will commence
Tickets have been held at 2023 prices.

- Family ticket: £25
- Adults: £9
- Children (over 5): £7
The Winter Warmers bar will also be there serving a selection of seasonal drinks including mulled wine, spiced cider and hot toddies. Many local food concessions will be serving delicious hot and cold food throughout the evening, including hot dogs from the award winning ‘Maldon Sausages’.
Parking is available in all the High Street car parks and on the Promenade Park.
Southminster Fireworks Spectacular
When: Sunday 3rd November 2024, from 2pm
Where: King George V playing field, Southminster, CM0 7EW

A family-friendly event not to be missed is the Southminster fireworks spectacular! The event is taking place on the King George Playing Field on Sunday 3rd November.
The afternoon will include food vendors, market stalls and bouncy castles. Admission is by wristband only. Wristbands cost £2 each and must be purchased ahead of the event.

- Southminster Butchers
- Wibblers
- The Kings Head
- St Leonards Primary School (wristbands for attending families)
Itinerary:
- 2pm: gates open
- 3-4pm: Free children's entertainment from Quackers
- 4-5pm: Live music by The Ed Sheeran Illusion - followed by a fire performer
- 5:30pm: The firework spectacular
Chelmsford Racecourse
When: Sunday 3rd November 2024, from 4pm
Where: City Racecourse, Chelmsford, CM3 1QP

Celebrate this Bonfire Night at Chelmsford races and enjoy a fun-filled evening of dazzling fireworks, fantastic amusements, and delicious food and drink for all the family.
You can watch as the sky lights up to the sound of music and enjoy fair rides, street food, and bars with accompanying DJs.
All tickets must be purchased in advance. Children under the age of three go for free but will need a ticket. All children must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.

Colchester Castle Fireworks
When: Tuesday 5th November 2024, 5:30pm

This year’s spectacular annual fireworks display in Colchester's Castle Park is taking place on Tuesday 5th November!
This will be King Coel’s Kittens 53rd Fireworks Spectacular to be held in Colchester Castle Park. Over the years they have raised valuable funds to purchase tangible items to support groups of people with special requirements living in the local community.
Itinerary:
- 5:30pm: gates open at 5.30pm
- 7pm: fireworks display will commence
Refreshments will be available inside the park.
