Wondering what’s on in Burnham-on-Crouch this Halloween? At Burnham Waters, our retirement village has put together a round-up of what’s happening locally. We share some of our favourite events and activities, with everything from pumpkin picking to Halloween arts and crafts. If you’ve got the grandchildren visiting this October half term, you’re sure to find something to keep them entertained!

Halloween in Burnham-on-Crouch 2024:

Burnham Library Halloween Event: 29th and 31st October 2024

This half term, Burnham Library will be hosting a special Halloween-themed gathering offering access to a range of Halloween crafts and stories. This will be a FREE, family-friendly event running on:

- Tuesday 29th October, 11am – midday

- Thursday 31st October, 3pm – 4pm

Halloween display in Burnham-on-Crouch: 31st October 2024, 4pm - 9pm

Self proclaimed as one of the best Halloween house displays in Essex! Why not pay a visit to this house on Eastern Road and prepare to be impressed! This year’s display will be raising funds for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance – so not only will you be getting into the Halloween spirit, but by donating, you will also be contributing to a fantastic, local cause too.

Pumpkin Village Nights: 12th - 31st October 2024, 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Pay a visit to Marsh Farm in Chelmsford and take a stroll around the enchanted pumpkin-lined paths as day turns to night. See the Pumpkin Village under the stars as thousands of pumpkins and squash are lit up in the autumn darkness and horrid spider webs glisten in the moonlight. You can also enjoy the fang-tastic fun fair rides - all included with your admission.

Pick your own pumpkin at Sarah Green’s Organic Farm: 5th - 31st October, 10am – 4pm

Why not make the most of the autumnal weather and head out to Sarah Green’s Organic Farm (Tillingham) for a spot of pumpkin picking! Explore the wide range of pumpkins available and while you are there, why not enjoy a tea/coffee/hot chocolate and a homemade cake at the farm’s café, the Leeky Cauldron. The farm is open every weekend and during half term, 10am - 4pm. Free entry, no booking. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Hurley’s Pumpkin Forest: October 2024, 9am – 7pm

Another option if you are looking to ‘pick your own’ pumpkin this year is Hurley’s Pumpkin Forest. This popular patch in Battlesbridge is the place for you. Throughout October, you’ll find thousands of plump pumpkins and squashes to choose from. You may even see a few surprises in preparation for spooky season!

Based in the middle of the Essex countryside, avid pumpkin pickers can enjoy entry to the forest grounds at both standard and twilight times by pre-booking a slot online.  The forest is open daily.

Autumn Craft Market & Halloween Spooky Trail: 26th October 2024, 1pm – 6pm

Following on from the success of last year’s Halloween Market and Spooky Trail, this year, Danbury Leisure Centre is promising to go bigger and better!

Why not take a trip to the Halloween themed event, browse the indoor and outdoor markets, and enjoy some tasty treats from a variety of food and drinks vendors. Why not take the opportunity to follow the Spooky Trail – with free sweets for every child who makes it through(!). There will also be an array of craft activities available for children on the day. This is a FREE community event, hosted by Danbury Parish Council.

Halloween at The Museum of Power: 30th October – 3rd November, 9:30am – 3pm

Take a trip to the Museum of Power and enjoy access to a host of Halloween themed arts and crafts, as well as other spooky activities. If you want to make a day of it, then there is plenty to keep you busy. The miniature railway will be running, and the Model Village will be open, along with the Steam Pump Tea Room – meaning there is plenty on offer for all ages.

Our retirement bungalows at Burnham Waters

All of our bungalows enjoy flexible, open-plan living, with floor to ceiling windows that welcome in lots of natural light. Our homes incorporate high-quality fixtures, fittings, and appliances throughout. The kitchens include Quartz worktops and Bosch appliances, while the bathrooms include high-end fittings and sanitaryware.

All homes have bi-fold doors opening onto a private patio area and the halls, utility rooms, lounges, and kitchens are fitted with beautiful, hardwearing oak or chestnut effect vinyl plank flooring. Luxury carpets are fitted to all bedrooms, and all bathrooms and en-suites feature tiled floors. There is underfloor heating throughout.  

Each property has a driveway for two cars with an electric  vehicle charging point and bicycle and bin storage.
