What’s on in Essex this Father’s Day 2024
Sunday 16th June marks Father’s Day this year! If you’re wondering what’s on in Essex this Father’s Day, the team at Burnham Waters have you covered! We share some local ideas that are perfect whether you are looking for ideas to take your dad out, or to be taken out yourself!
East Anglian Railway Museum: Father’s Day Trains event
Got a train and railway fanatic in the family? Why not celebrate Father's Day with a visit to the East Anglian Railway Museum, and a ride on a train hauled by a real life steam engine.
Throughout your visit you can enjoy unlimited steam and diesel train rides, as well as unlimited rides on the Miniature railway, and access to the museum and all its exhibits.
The Platform 2 Cafe will be open selling hot and cold drinks and snacks, and the museum’s very own miniature pub will be open selling a range of beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks. Molly Moo’s Ice Cream will also be in attendance.
Kids can also let off some steam in the train themed playground, or pretend to be a bus driver on the play and picnic bus.
During the Father’s Day Trains event, the Museum will be open for visitors to look around the various buildings, trains, displays and exhibits – with the added attraction of one of the heritage trains running, hauled by one of the museum’s home fleet of steam locomotives.
Unlimited rides will run between 10:30 – 15:00. The Museum will open at 10:00 and close at 17:00.

Try your hand at sailing - with a free taster session from the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club
If you are looking for a bit more of a physical activity on Father’s Day, how about sailing?
In conjunction with the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) ‘Discover Sailing’ initiative, the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club is offering the chance for locals to get out on the water for a free session.
Attendees will be able to head out on the water in a variety of different vessels, including 707 yachts, Squib keelboats, and even paddleboards.
Visitors will also be able to take a look inside the club’s headquarters and understand more about the club, what it does, and the events it holds.
No experience is required and all ages are welcome!
Sessions are available on Sunday 16th June and Saturday 11th May.

Brentwood Brewing Company
If you’re looking for what’s on in Essex around Father’s Day, but not on the day itself, we would highly suggest booking a brewery tour or experience day at the Brentwood Brewing Company. This Micro-Brewery based in Brentwood, is the perfect gateway into the art of brewing and serves both traditional and craft beers.
Every second Saturday in the month the brewery hosts an open day and runs brewery tours – find out more here.
You can also arrange a private tour for a group of 12-40 people. These are generally run in the evenings mid-week. You get to see firsthand the ins and outs of the brewing process and also have a chance to try some of the ingredients and of course drink some beer from the bar!
